Schynige Platte - Sun

Sun 19th Oct 2014

Got up early and made the most of a glorious sunny day. Even The Swiss are saying it's like an Indian summer! Got the bus into Interlaken then changed buses to Wilderswil to connect with the Jungfrau regions historic cogwheel railway up to Schynige Platte. We travelled over 8 bridges through 4 tunnels and climbed to an altitude of 2000m doing a top speed of 12kms an hour! It was amazing! The views the steepness the colours - everything! Didn't think things could get any better!!!! When we arrived at the top we listened to the alphorn players (see my Facebook timeline for a video) we then did a loop walk around the top and along the ridge (it was sooo close to the edge!) was a great hike and it was the first time we had seen a lot of locals out enjoying the day - well it was a beautiful sunny Sunday. The views on our walk were on one side the two lakes either side of Interlaken then on the other side The Jungfrau and The Eiger !!!! Not bad!!!!! Came back down on the cogwheel railway into Wilderswil then got on a "normal" train into Interlaken where we then got a local bus back to Camping Alpenblick and Priscilla. Duck casserole and broccoli for dinner. Another amazing day.
