Isle of Skye

We drove to The Isle of Skye via Glen Affric.

Glen Affric Plodda Falls.

Yes! Snow on the ground. This is unusual as we are not that high up. We did a loop walk.

This lake looked a bit strange in colour so we threw a stone and realised it was frozen!

We then stopped at The Eilean Donan Castle. This is often used in film and tv.

A quirky Pizza Hut - Pizza Jo!!!

As in the song “over the sea to Skye” the bridge from Klyle of Lochalsh to Skye.

We had fun trying to find this remote cottage in the pitch black. What a pleasant surprise it was. Very warm comfortable and homely.

Look at the cute box bed Jess had.

Couldn’t wait to get started on the Christmas present puzzle 🧩 it was harder than it looks but Jo and Jess got it done.

Kilt rock. So very windy and very cold.

We then drove up to the quiraing mountain range. The visibility was limited but very bracing.

Not bad views even in this weather!

The Fairy Glen at Uig. David is the fairy in the circle!

Our cottage.

Today’s view of The Old Man Of Storr!

This is what it looks like in fine weather.

We drove into Portree and had a walk around the town.

Landed up having a Sunday Roast in The Cuillin Hills Hotel. It was a bit posh but was amazing value for a 3 course lunch at £16 per head.

Walking back into Portree-more rain.

Looking back on The Cuillin Hills Hotel.

The Christmas lights in Portree. We cannot believe that here it doesn’t get light until 9am and is then dark again at 3.45pm!

Would you believe the day we are leaving the weather changes! We cannot complain as we have been lucky until now. Off now on a long drive to Edinburgh to celebrate Hogmanay.
