Change of destination - Sat

Sat 25th Oct 2014
Decided to back track 10kms to a huge Château that we had glimpsed on our way to our night spot. First had a quick walk around the village before setting off. Managed to get parked close to The Château de Fontainebleau and it turned out to be one of the largest Royal residences remaining in Europe. Originally dating back to the 12th century but with huge additions through the years and vast gardens. At one stage Napoleon lived here! Listened to the French horn players on the balcony as we were leaving. Drove on then to our intended campsite in St.Cheron only to find it was closed!!! Over the road there was a Naturist campsite that was open and I pleaded to stay as David already had it in his head that we were now going to drive to Paris!!!!!!!! I was so scared of the thought of it! The Naturist place said we could only stay if we went naked!!!!! I must admit I was tempted to take up the offer! After looking at the map(which made me feel even worse) we set off to the campsite in Versailles. The road was busier than we expected for a Saturday but everything was ok until we missed our turning! So ended up unable to get off so had to go into the centre of Paris! To pick up the ring road! The many lanes of traffic were going very slow which have us a bit more time working out the new route! Got excited as at one stage we could see Le Tour Eiffel! Never ever expected to drive this close to it !!!!! Managed to get off the ring road to Versailles and finally found the campsite signs but at one stage we pulled into a garage for a wee stop and a nice old French man offered to show us the way by following his car. This made it a lot easier  as it was all around the houses! Finally arrived at Camping Huttopia in Versailles! Only 5mins walk to the train station for Central Paris(20 mins) and we can also walk to the Palace of Versailles! Such a relief to get here but as it turns out this will be so much better than the 'closed ' campsite. Not even going to start thinking about driving out! Had a great pizza in the campsite bar to use wifi and catch up a bit.
