Torroella de Montgri

Friday 28th Feb

This morning Jane kindly took us to Torroella de Montgri, the next town, to try and sort us out with phones and internet on our dongle. Had morning coffee while there and I even bought Jess a Kinder Surprise like in the old days when she was young (hours of fun will no doubt be had from the toy she made!!!). Came back to L’Estartit and had lunch in our apartment with Jane and Laura. Managed to have a long Skype with Tracy and Roger which was lovely and then Jane dropped Jo and myself off at the bottom of Roca Maura (the steep high mountain that overlooks L’Estartit) and we had a great walk up to the top .Stayed up there ages as it is a great view of snow-capped mountains one side and the scenic coast the other. Jo enjoyed reminiscing about the old days here long before I met her. We even managed to see Priscilla from up there. After our walk back to the apartment, Jane again kindly drove us back to Torroella de Montgri to a motorhome company that might be able to sort out the gas hot water system on Priscilla and the windscreen washer that won’t squirt water. Dolphin Motors in Christchurch have emailed to say the warranty should cover it. Very helpful people who speak good English and we agreed to go in with Priscilla on Monday morning for their mechanics to look at it. Laura had cooked a wonderful dinner of meatloaf and veg which we had in our apartment and Teresa and Eduard came too (with a lovely homemade strawberry cheesecake!!) as Jane and Laura’s would be too small with all the cats! Another great evening and Eduard and Teresa helped point out places we must see when we tour Spain.
