Cap De La Barra & Wild Asparagus

Sat 1st March 2014

This morning Jane Laura Jess David & I went up the mountain to Cap de la Barra. The walk up was rugged and steep. We did what most Spanish people do and on the way collected wild asparagus. This became a bit of a competition between us all! You really need a good eye to pick them out amongst the rest of the vegetation. Stunning views from the top of the mountain overlooking Illes de Medes and the town below. We enjoyed a lovely picnic then headed off down the mountain. Jane & I went off to the local butcher to pick up meat for a BBQ tomorrow and then Jane went back up the mountain to collect wood for the BBQ. I prepared an asparagus quiche for dinner with the wild ones we had picked - there were so many it made 2 quiches! Laura knocked up a delicious leek and potato soup.
