A lazy day in Aranjuez

Tues 25th March 2014

A morning spent doing odd jobs around Priscilla. The campsite is very quiet since the weekend. Also it is still very cold and the thermals went on again! Had a very long walk around part of the Royal Gardens that we hadn’t seen before and cannot believe the size of them. The main Avenue runs for over 3km’s and at this time of year the gardens look beautiful but come summer they will look stunning. We kept finding fountains, summer houses, follies and even another small Palace (where the king could come to rest away from the pressures of court! - he needs to harden up!). The Park was alive with different wildlife and we even saw peacocks and cute little squirrels.  It then started to get very windy and started to rain so we headed back to Priscilla for a game of Phase 10 and then Skyped Jess who had just arrived in Berlin. Toledo on the bus tomorrow - weather permitting, then after that we will definitely be heading south to get some warmer weather!
