Bike ride through the Royal Gardens! Not!

Sun 23rd March 2014
Up early for bacon and eggs and fresh bread. Skyped the family which was great. They all look well. Cannot believe they have had the first rain since we left! Longest drought period on record in Perth! Colder today but nice and sunny. Set off on our bikes to cycle through the extensive Royal Gardens. There was a Marathon in the gardens closest to us so we cycled to the one nearest to The Palace. The whole area was full of families enjoying Sunday in the park. As soon as we start cycling through the gardens we hear a whistle and a young security girl calls us over to tell us we are not aloud bikes in the gardens (not even push them!) so we go to the Palace Square to chain the bikes up to a lamppost and walk instead. This was just as enjoyable and spent all afternoon in the Royal Gardens with our picnic lunch and coffee and our books and watched the world go by. Got back to our bikes and cycled around the city and back to our campsite to sit in the sun. Off on the train to Madrid tomorrow.
