Day 31 Hotel - Arcos/Jerez Feria

Wed 14th May 2014
A lovely spot for Priscilla for a couple of days. After breakfast we set off for Jerez in Priscilla and parked in a huge shopping centre car park (great for Motorhomes) then walked all through the town to pick up our tickets for tomorrows Horse Show.

This is the Palace in Jerez in the same gardens as the School of Equestrian Art where the show is tomorrow.

Lord of the Manor!

Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre

This was in the Saddle workshop

Hetty & I - these flowers are called Spanish Flags (because of their colour)

The carriage museum and stables - no photographs were allowed to be taken inside. It was so well presented and very interesting. The stables were wonderful and we were able to stroke and pat all the horses. They are very well looked after and immaculate. Hetty kept giving them all more food!

The old town centre of Jerez - well know world wide for it's Sherry and of course it's horses. Beautiful with all the Jacaranda trees in bloom.

Tapas in Jerez. 8 beers 6 tapas all for just 14Euro. The Spanish couple behind were eating snails! Loads of them in what looked like jam jars! Loads of tiny ones!!!!

The Feria del Caballo - the Horse Fair is on for 3 days. So each afternoon everyone flocks to The Fair. All the women of the family were dressed in Flamenco dresses. The huge showground area was full of all different bars and stages. There were also spontaneous flamenco performances. Horses pulling carriages taking people around the showgrounds were going around all afternoon and evening. This event is so hard to explain as we have never seen anything like it!

Sanderman Sherry comes from Jerez.

All ages All shapes & sizes All having fun. The atmosphere was very festive. All the women take so much pride in their outfits and some have a different dress for each of the 3 days.

Even the men were immaculately dressed.

The Spanish men seem to have a problem - see them peeing anywhere and everywhere! This is disgusting as every bar had toilets!

We had a Kebab on the way back to Priscilla then  we did a shop for the hotel in Carrefour. David and Hetty hate shopping as you can see from their faces!

We filled the fridge with the Hotel's shopping as we have to drive back tomorrow straight after the horse show as guests are arriving. Enjoyed a cup of tea which was much needed after lots of walking and having fun.
