Day 25 Hotel-Antequera

Thurs 8th May 2014
Guests have just checked out and no more for 2 days so we will have our 2 days off now. Hope & I did the breakfast for the guests before they checked out then we got ready for a day in Antequera. We had driven past this town the day we went to Ronda (it's the one with the Indian Mountain as it's backdrop). Before we left we had a great Skype with Mum Jess & Ruby. Jess had just had an interview via Skype with Topdeck Tours as she has applied for a volunteer job helping at this years Oktoberfest in Munich Germany . She said it went very well and the ice was broken as just prior to the interview Mum had set fire to something in the kitchen and set off the fire alarm! So Jess had been flacking the smoke and was all out of breath just as the interview started! She told them what had happened and made them laugh! After that Hope Alan Hetty David & I set off for Antequera.

We arrived in the beautiful town which has the most churches per capita in the whole of Spain.  Which has 49 churches!

Decided to attack the castle front on! Luckily they surrendered.

The Christian church after they defeated The Moors became the oldest University in Spain.

See the Indian Mountain Head?

Hetty resting her back and playing internet scrabble! While keeping an eye out for invaders!!!

We had Tapas and wine & beer before we explored more. These are fried aubergine with Spanish honey (treacle)

Jo pretending to be the virgin Mary (as if!)

We poked our heads in this convent and got a tour from one of the nuns (dressed in jeans! must have been her day off) It was amazing.

Courtyard of the convent

Shoe shopping for Alan.

The Town Hall. The guy working here was so passionate about his job (bit like you Sis) and he gave us the guided tour. What a beautiful town hall -  originally a Monastery.

Had ice cream here on The Terrace

Villanueva de la Conception - Pizza FoFo. We had dinner on the rooftop terrace and discussed the state of the world today and Hope used to work for Greenpeace so at itmes the discussion got a bit heated!!!! David loved it.
i
Hetty had so much pizza the button came off her shirt! We got home quite late and all went in the sitting room and watched the movie "About Time" - was fantastic.
