Packed up (which doesn’t
take more than 5 mins) and left the Bashley site to head for Dolphin Motorhomes
in Christchurch to go over a few teething problems and ask some questions (some
I think were a bit blonde!) As we drove along a narrow road that was busy in
both directions David made the mistake of trying to avoid a pot hole in the
road (passenger side) and must have swerved slightly and the next thing BANG!!!!!!!!!!!
We had clipped a van coming the other way with our wing mirror (driver’s side).
With nowhere to pull over (as traffic was still flowing) we carried on for a
bit with the whole of the mirror swinging down!!!! Managed to pull over to assess
the damage and were lucky to be able to put the mirror back in but all the back
casing was broken! This mishap we found less stressful than dealing with
banks/police fines and automatic telephone services! Arrived at Dolphin
Motorhomes in torrential rain and sorted out most of our questions. We were
given the address of a repair place that may be able to supply a second-hand
wing mirror for £50 but no luck there, only the offer of a new one at approx.
£240 and a few days wait. So off we went to Halfords to buy some black duct
tape (to fix it) and another padlock for the new bike. A big storm went through
so we sat in Priscilla, in the car park, had a cuppa and did our puzzles
(because we can!) and waited for it to pass. Filled up with gas for the first
time (it was easy) £14.85 for 21 litres (we are using more because of the
heating). Arrived at Val and Malcolm’s (staying on their driveway for a couple
of nights) and caught up over a lovely homemade “Jamie” fish pie and a few
wines of course! Still no licences!!!! They really wanted us to stay in the
house but we have Priscilla all set up and it was easier to say goodnight and
step out of their front door and into ours.
