Good night’s sleep again
and got up to a lovely sunny day. We walked around La Mée and left a note on
the door “Thank you from The Aussie’s” The winery was beautiful where we had
stayed but everywhere you looked there was so much work that had been started
and not finished so it was all in such a mesh! A really great place for a photo
shoot (see Jess’s Blog) We set off for La Cite of Carcassonne which was just
down the road. It is a walled city dating as far back as 118BC and the Romans
and was involved continuously in different wars and crusades. This was another
stunning site as you approached it and spent most of the day wandering and
absorbing everything. We stopped for Crepes and coffee before going into the
Abbey. Within these walls were many shops, restaurants and Hotels and many
lolly shops that Jess loved. Heading off into The Pyrenees with stunning views
and through medieval towns and through a tunnel (2.6klms). Headed South via
Foix and then onto Ax Les Themes our stop for the night. 36E for the night!
Expensive as it is high season (holidays here in France at the moment) but views
of the snow-capped mountains. We went on a short walk into the town, a lot of
people here have been skiing as there is a cable car up to the slopes. There
were many cars coming down from the mountains causing traffic jams in the town.
Back to Priscilla to sort water/toilet/waste/electricity etc. Cooked dinner and
Jess & I gave up with the Wi-Fi!!!! Bloody technology!!!! Andorra awaits
tomorrow and hopefully Spain to see Jane J
