A rainy day drive

THUR 20 Feb 2014

All slept well and didn’t get woken up by any psycho’s (although Jess could have stabbed Jo with her snoring!!) Set off on a longer drive today and as it was pouring with rain all day, driving was the best thing to do. Stopped at an Abbey on a hill overlooking the Loire River at Varades, great view and they must have had a lot of rain in this region as the river was flooded. Carried onto the town of Lusignan and stopped for lunch, Jo knocked up one of her vegetable soups (realised we had to connect the inverter up to the leisure battery in the rain to use the blender!! all good fun) Shame it was raining as the town looked very interesting and picturesque. Carried on in more rain, can’t believe the amount of big trucks that are on the roads even the minor ones, which makes for some tense moments when they pass. Ended up not finding the Aires we were looking for but came across an old farm that took campers, 13 Euros, very rustic (won’t be using their toilet or shower!!), but the owners are very pleasant and we have limited Wifi so can update the blog. Snacky tea and route planned for tomorrow, and again all too tired to watch a movie so another early night. The Pyrennes await us tomorrow.
