Coverack to Falmouth

Sat 8th Aug 2015
Saturday ended for us walking out of Coverack to find a wild camping spot on the beach at Godreavy Bay. Had tins of sardines while watching the sun go down and the fishermen on the beach. Woke Sunday to drizzly rain but managed to pack away and walk to The Fat Apples Cafe in Porthallow for a magnificent breakfast. Here we met Sally & Tim who were walking the path in the opposite direction. What a lovely couple who had a very sad story to tell but We think we inspired each other - you never know what's around the corner - so enjoy life while you can. Shame we were walking opposite ways as would have been nice to chat longer. Walked to the HALFWAY marker with mixed feelings-not another 315miles to do! And oh! the home stretch not wanting it to end. Had to take 2 Ferries today which were great. The second one at the beautiful village of Helford (really liked this place) had a pub either side so we had to go in both! Had a gorgeous meal in The Ferry Boat Inn before finding a wild camp spot just before dark in the woods above Parsons Beach!
Mon
Rained heavily all night until 9 in the morning so stayed in the tent in the dry reading. After packing away we had a very wet and muddy walk to Maenporth where we had breakfast in a beach cafe. We then arrived in Falmouth mid afternoon and got a taxi (cheaper than a bus) to Penryn for a couple of great days off with David's Uncle Ron and Auntie Pat and Cousin Gary wife Debbie and kids Amy and Chloe.
