Werfenweng Salzburg and Hallstatt

We headed off for our next accommodation for 3 nights and stopped here for coffee.

Had to pay an extra €10 to use this road but it was very scenic.

Checked into Haus Thomas in Werfenweng. What a view!

We are again very lucky with the sunny weather.

This just had to be done! The Sound of Music scene with Julie Andrews 🎶

we walked into the town and it was warm enough to go without coats.

An old ski lift made into a free library 📚

The local church.

The local cemetery in the dead centre of town!

This felt like walking through Narnia.

Walking back to house Thomas.

Cooked up a very garlicky pasta meal that stunk the place out while watching The Sound of Music.

Next morning we made the most of the clear day and went up the cable car in town as it was free today to celebrate the start of the season.

Happy 31st wedding anniversary to us 💕

Back view of the ol ducks!

The castle where they filmed Where Eagles Dare. Hohenwerfen.

Drove onto this place Berchtesgaden. We did a boat tour on the lake but we’re a bit disappointed.

We then drove on to Salzburg for the afternoon and evening. What a beautiful city.

The Marble Hall.

Around the Christmas Markets-they were better than the Munich ones.

This is where Mozart was born and lived.

This was a bit creepy.

Jess with a giant pretzel doughnut. This was after we had had a lovely schnitzel meal.

Next day the weather had changed and we were wondering if we would get snow?

We drove an hour away to the picturesque village of Hallstatt.

We got soaked.

Coffee and torte - was the best.

As soon as we left Hallstatt the snow started and it didn’t take long to cover the roads. It was both scary and exciting.

Still snowing back at Haus Thomas.

And plenty more snow to come looking at the forecast. We watched a movie and packed up for our flight from Munich to Edinburgh tomorrow. Let’s hope the roads are clear.
