Port Issac to Perranporth

Mon 20th July 2015
Adam and Steph dropped us back in Port Issac about 12pm to start the walk where we left off. After a quick look around Doc Martins village we hit the path with 2 steep ascents and descents. It was as if the path was telling us "how dare u have 4 days away from me! I going to have to punish u!" It felt like we were starting again from Minehead! Very hard going then after a lovely morning the rain came-why are we doing this???!!! Great views all the same and eventually the rain stopped and it ended up a lovely day and evening. Got to Rock in time for the last ferry across to Padstow. Was in The Shipwright Arms by 7.30 for a meal before walking for another 30 mins to our campsite at Dennis Cove £11.
Tues
Great to be back in the tent and fine weather when we got up- makes sooo much difference. Walked to Bens Crib Box for breakfast then on a nice easy walk back to the van at Mother Ivy's. Fantastic weather and scenery all day. Stopped at Harlyn Bay Inn for food and drinks before getting back to the van at 3pm. Caught up again with Adam & Steph (they had been out cycling for about 50miles)!
Wed
Set off walking with A&S- they walked with us as far as Bedruthan Steps where we had lunch before they turned back and we headed to Porth (just outside Newquay). Great days walk today. It went quicker with A&S as we chatted all the way. But once we were on our own it seemed more of a slog. Big swell today today so the sheer rugged cliffs looked dramatic with the crashing waves. We saw a genuine smugglers cave. Hound a campsite in Porth £24(dearest so far a motorhomes with 5 people in was only £31). Went to the pub across the road for beers and Internet and had our packed lunch of egg mayo sandwiches for tea back at the tent.
Thurs
Walked into Newquay and met up with our old mate Nick and his lovely girlfriend Lisa. Then were joined by Nicks brother Pete (who had stayed with us in Australia 25years ago) and his lovely wife Teresa and one of their sons Jack and friend Gabriele. Nick Pete and Izzy the dog walked with us to Hollywell where the others met up with us for a few beers and evening meal. We seemed to get lost getting out of Newquay- worst directions so far but a great catch up with the boys. Pitched the tent up on a campsite near the pub and it was torrential rain all night. We stayed nice and dry and managed to get the tent packed away  in the morning between showers.
Fri
Walked of the campsite in the morning without paying! Thought they may of charged us silly money even though we were very late getting there and didn't use the showers. Walked to Perranporth- just a short one today 3 hours through a lot of MOD areas and a big stretch of beach. Not the best work and drizzly rain all the way. Booked into a nice B&B £52 and had showers and a sleep and lovely change of clothes after 3 days!! We then caught up with Nick and Lisa in the pub nearby.
