Boscastle to Port Issac

Boscastle to Port Issac

Tues 14th June 2015
The day didn't start off too bad but the forecast said rain within the hour and it was right. It was also humid, so we seemed to get wet even with our rain gear on. Again, low cloud and minimum visibility. Jo took another tumble on a wet descent! By the time we got to Tintagel we were sodden. We couldn't even see the famous castle, so we decided to find a B&B as the rain was in for the day. Checked in and got a wonderful room at The Malthouse Inn £75. In the room at 2pm and didn't leave the room until breakfast the following morning! Cuppa soup and a Mars bar for dinner! Jo reckons best bed since "the cloud" in Priscilla.
Wed
Have arranged for David's cousins wife Linda to meet up at our next stop Port Issac. She will then take us to their holiday home in Mother Ivy's Bay so we can relax for a couple of days. The weather was perfect today so spent a little time looking around Tintagel Castle (supposedly King Arthur's) and the church before heading to Port Issac 15km away. Great walk and very scenic but another severe one with lots of steep ups and downs. Got into Port Issac about 3pm and straight away saw Bert! Out of the TV show Doc Martin! They are filming here at the moment. He asked us about our trip and was amazed at how little we were carrying for 3 months. He had heard enough when Jo mentioned that her 3 pairs of knickers were all dirty! The cafe customers loved it! Met up with Linda - good to see her again but strange being in a car after walking for so long. Linda and Ian have a lovely holiday home here in a stunning location. Linda brought with her a meal for us for tonight and loads of provisions - we feel very lucky. She left us about 7.30pm so for the next few days we are here on our own until their son Adam and girlfriend Stephanie arrive on Sat/Sun. Hopefully they will be able to take us back to Port Issac so we can carry on. We will be passed here again though as the SWCP goes right through this holiday site.
