Perranporth to St Ives

Sat 25th July 2015
Opened the curtains to a sunny day. Then forced down another full English breakfast before we set off on a big days walk. We really enjoyed the walk today. It felt easy, scenic, good weather and we caught up with a couple of guys we met earlier. Also met an army veteran doing the John of Goats to Lands End for ex soldiers for charity. We bought  2 sun flower seeds to raise money and we will plant them at the end of the walk-check out seeds for soldiers on FaceBook- our picture will be on it. St Agnes was beautiful but Portreath is the worse place so far. They had knocked down the old homes around the harbour and built what looked like a council estate with a couple of rough pubs. Didn't bother stopping so carried on walking and was about after 8pm by the time we found a suitable wild camp after some very steep ups and downs. Pork pies and a cuppa soup for dinner and a great sleep after a 24km walk.
Sun
It poured with rain all night but didn't keep us awake. Slept in and read our books til 9am when the showers eased. Packed away realising that we both had weed(between the inner and outer tent) onto the foil blanket that we had put down, under the tent to stop the thistles coming through only to let our wee go through-thank goodness for wet wipes! Walked to Hells Mouth for B/fast/lunch before heading to Hayle. Showers on and off and windy but doesn't stop the Brits enjoying their hols! Stopped off in Hayle for a couple of beers then a Sunday roast before walking towards St Ives. Long walk again and managed to tuck ourselves out of site in the sand dunes for another free nights accommodation close to St Ives railway line. Rain again tonight!
Mon
Packed up and on our way to St Ives via a coffee stop at Carbis Bay-beautiful. St Ives is lovely but very busy and today very windy. Stopped at a lovely campsite overlooking the town and paid for 2 nights at £24 a night so we can rest and explore. Got some washing done and had much needed showers! Had beers and a meal at the cafe/bar on site. St Ives can wait for tomorrow without our backpacks on!!!! Yah!
