The Long Arm of The Law!

Tuesday 14th Jan
I woke up to my bad throat having turned into a head cold and blocked sinuses!!! And poor David woke to a pain in the arse and underpants full of blood!!!
We packed up and left a frosty, icy sunny Bridport - for Harpenden (to take the car back) via Christchurch to drop off Australian bank paperwork for the Motorhome purchase (original has to be mailed to Oz-cannot be done via internet banking!!!). Just outside Christchurch we took a wrong turning so our Sat Nav re-routed us and sent us down a small One-Way Street!! Sods Law - blue flashing lights and we were pulled over. We explained what had happened and they were not happy! David showed his Australian drivers licence and was asked “What sort of licence is that!?!” So he showed them his UK drivers licence - which has not been used for 25years and has a 25year old address on it! We gave them our insurance details which Liz in Harpenden had added David to her insurance when we borrowed the car. To our horror Jason?????!!!!! Parsons had been added not DAVID Parsons!! After a few more checks by the 2 police officers (who did not want me to photograph them for our travel Blog!) proceeded to issue us with a £100 ($200 approx.) fine and 3 points on his UK drivers licence!!!! VERY disappointed as they could have given us a caution for our small mistake. So now we have more hassels as have to report to a police station and hand in the UK drivers Licence to have the points added!! Licence has 25year old address on it!! So not sure what will happen or how we will get it back???!!! Oh well it could be worse? David could have piles!!! Oh wait! HE HAS!!!!!!!!!! LLLLL

We finally arrived at Dolphin Motors and calmed down a bit with a nice coffee. Spent awhile completing paperwork and making phone calls. Set off up the country on the M27 M3 M25 (before it turned into a car park) and M1 for Harpenden. It was still fairly early so we found Harpenden Police Station (took ages to find a place to park) to get that out of the way and found it no longer open as a Police Station and that we will have to go to St Albans tomorrow! Mike & Liz came home from work and we enjoyed them cheering us up over a nice meal and a few wines. What a day!!!!
