We all had a great sleep and woke to the tide still right out leaving miles of sandbanks with locals trawling with nets for small fish that looked like whitebait. Left beautiful Foz and headed along the top of the north coast then turned inland and went along very windy lush almost rainforest roads. Great roads again and hardly any traffic. On then to a major road and past many unfinished bridges (pylons in place) a very scenic drive - felt like on other part of Spain that we have seen. Through lots of tunnels the longest one being 1.8km long. Then we started to really climb up into the mountains on steep roads with hairpin bends. It felt like we were going over the Pyrenees again but without the snow. Stopped to take some photos and take in the views under a concrete canopy that keeps the snow off the roads during winter. Managed to find a small campsite in a tiny village called Cofinal for 2 nights. We are on the edge if a national park near the Picos de Europe mountains which will be our next stop. Walked to the only shop in the village for some fruit and bread and it was so small but had everything in it including a what felt like all the locals! Had a BBQ and salad whilst listening to thunder and lightening but it did come to anything. The rain that had been forecast never showed and it was another beautiful day.
