Spain 🇪🇸 Arboleas

May 15th - May 24th

Alarm went off at 4.30am! Jane drove us to Flaçà train station and we said our goodbyes -very sad to leave our dear friend. But she has promised to visit us in Australia. I am sure we will see her again this trip too.

After 2 trains and a bus to Barcelona airport we got a Vueling flight to Almeria.

The greenhouses and solar panels of southern Spain.

After being picked up by Ali and her Dad Les we drove to the beach front of Mojácar. The weather was glorious.

Les with Ali and David.

We had a Menu del dia €12 each 3 course lunch at The Beachcomber. English owned and all the staff were English.

Drove to Les’s villa in Arboleas he has lived here for 15 years. It is absolutely beautiful. David’s back had been playing up since the day we went to Girona. I think he did a bit too much! After 2 days rest and me stretching his hamstrings he was back to normal.

Zoom in to the left-this pergola we landed up taking down.

A very still hot evening and the sunset was beautiful.

Had a walk around the very small village of Arboleas then walked back to the villa for a swim.

Called into the Bar Trinidad for a beer on the way back- again all English.

Arboleas is in Almeria and is known for making all the spaghetti westerns here.

Les swan for one hour and he’s 80 this year!

Started weeding the front garden.

Les made us the best pancakes ever with fresh lemons off his tree. We had a game of Scrabble but Les and Ali were too good for us!

Yellow Rose House.

Flipping of the pancakes.

Started on the back garden. Lots of rendering for David to be done.

Started painted The Casita (little house) the shed.

It’s a messy job.

Les took us out for a really good Chinese.

Started to take all the pergola down.

Off to the hardware and garden shop.

Found this in the pool!

I made Les his favourite-steak pie 🥧 I must admit it turned out delicious.

Relaxing after a hard days work.

Had a FaceTime chat with Trace then with our Jess.

All the pergola we took down we then spent a good few hours cutting with the chainsaw. Now Les has a good batch for the winter. At one stage the chainsaw stopped and we couldn’t get it going. Les had to drive into Albox and would you believe we had put the brake on that’s why it wasn’t working!!!
Made a banana cake and a sticky date and walnut cake with caramel sauce.

Les and Ali in the background putting up some new wall ornaments on the new area.

Another chat about Brexit! Les and Ali are obsessed.

David made a base for the outdoor shower.

A final swim before heading to Alicante airport. It really does look very nice everywhere and it was a very satisfying job. We got spoilt rotten again and was very well looked after.

It was a bit sad saying goodbye to Les. He loved having us there.

The 2 hour taxi ride to Alicante airport was €100 the flight for all 3 of us was €38!

Easy Jet flight to Luton. So staying with Ali in Whitwell before going back to Harpenden. What a fantastic time we had. Adios Spain until next time.
