Seaton to Westbay

Monday 21st Sept 2015
Great B&B and Steve the perfect host. Today's walk was so much better than we expected. Even though we had to start off in light rain, by the time we got to Lyme Regis the sun was out. Had to do a big detour today because of cliff falls but that was fine as it took us down quite country lanes through the village of Downlands and the Rousdon Estate (a cross between Hogwarts and the mystery house in Escape to the Country) from there we descended into woods to pick up the path staying in these wonderful woods all the way to Lyme Regis. Very muddy and wet underfoot so had to watch our footing all the way. Had a cream tea and stripped off our wet weather gear before carrying on inland on another diversion to Charmouth. Here we had a great night with Louise and all the family where we stayed the night and we well looked after.
Tues
Set off about 10.30 in the sun to Westbay (Broadchurch). A lot of erosion on these cliffs were a bit of a concern when you are only a couple of metres away from the edge. We had walked this section before but coming the other way (2014) so it felt very different. Wonderful scenery and The Golden Cap (the highest point on the south coast) didn't feel too hard (we must be fit). Had a pint and a sandwich in The Anchor Inn in Seatown before descending into WestBay that felt like coming home as we know it so well. David welcomed us with a lovely curry dinner and had a great evening with Gary Sharon and Abby calling in to say hello. Out of the tent again tonight so feel very spoilt having a bed an shower again!
