No mozzies and no music last night - great except for the wind! Thought we were going to be blown over!
Packed up Priscilla and said goodbye to Alex Tilly & Dusty. Stopped on the way out to take a picture of a Monolith 4000 BC. This area is known for them. Drove then to Sagres - to the farthest point south west at Cabo de São Vincente. Spectacular cliff faces going down into the ocean. Very rugged and majestic. We then drove back towards Sagres and went to the Fort this was well known to Egyptians and Romans and known as the sacred Promontory and home to a group of Dolmens - later it became the focal point of the Knights Templars maritime exploits under Henry The Navigator. Nobody to this day can explain what the Templars were doing with a curious 300 foot wide wheel made of radial lines of stone whose purpose is a complete mystery! The chapel they erected next to it is perfectly located at the intersection of two ley lines. And dedicated to at Mary. We walked the whole way around the headland and struggled a the wind is soooooo strong. We then drove to the harbour and had lunch in Priscilla. At about 5pm we found a campsite in a pine Forrest for the night. Hope we have chosen a spot out of the wind!! Spent some time going over the map and routes /Aires/campsites etc then caught up with the blog as this site has internet (in one area only).
