Off to The New Forest

Saturday

We left Harpenden at 9am and got on the motorway heading down to New Milton in The New Forest. The speed limit is 70mph so it felt that everyone was going too fast! We followed the M1 onto the M25 (which is the ring road around London) then onto the M3. The traffic was good to us and it didn’t seem to take long at all. We came across a large home, Brambridge Park Country House, it was such a beautiful area we had to stop. There was a huge garden centre come shop nearby so we had a wander and the Salvation Army were singing Christmas Carols. We then stopped in Bishops Waltham to look at some Motorhomes. We now have a better idea as to the layout we want (not like the one in the picture!) Had lunch in some Tea Rooms-I had a bacon & egg bap and David had sausage egg & chips! Sorry to say but you cannot beat an English banger - they are fantastic (we will have to bring some home!!!!). We then stopped at The Snakecatcher pub in Brockenhurst (it was said he had killed 6,000 adders in The New Forest)! We then arrived in New Milton (David’s parents John & Margaret lived there before they immigrated to Australia) to stay with Elizabeth (friend of John & Margaret). She lives in a beautiful new modern apartment next to a water tower - David said it would make a great Grand Design project. She cooked us a lovely meal and we reminisced for many hours then watched The X Factor (UK) before falling into a very comfy bed. David watched Match of The Day (1st time in 25 years!) he said things haven’t changed West Ham still can’t win! Then some of the cricket before he came to bed.
