Tuesday
Up and out early this
morning - weren’t sure if we would get out at the bottom of the road as we were
told it was still flooded but got through no problem. Drove straight to
Christchurch to test drive the Motorhome we liked. There was a lot of flooded
roads and fallen trees on the way! Rob from Dolphin Motorhomes drove us to a
quiet area and David had the first drive- he was very good and found it easier
than expected. Then it was my turn!!!!! I found it just a little bit bigger
than driving the Mini!!!!! It was even harder when the heavens opened and
stated to throw sleet down!! Got on OK after a couple of hiccups (hitting a
curb and went twice round a roundabout as couldn’t get in the correct lane!!). Very
happy with everything and with a lot of extras thrown in (some thanks to Clive
& Janet’s negotiations) we signed the dotted line! Happy Christmas to us a
NEW HOME!!!! We will pick it up sometime towards the end of January. Headed back
to Bridport but stopped on the way to take photos of Charborough Park
it is surrounded by one
of the longest brick walls in England, comprising more than 2 million bricks
and built between 1841 and 1842. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charborough_House couldn’t
even see the house
as it was so far away. Stopped at The World’s End pub in Blanford for a bite to
eat before carrying onto Bridport in bright sunshine!!!!!!!! Got back and took
the dogs for a walk and then walked to St John’s Church in West Bay for
Christmas Crib Carols. It was lovely and got us into the spirit especially when
we all had our own parts to sing in The Twelve Days of Christmas (we have
learned that the song began by the Catholics when their religion was banned in
the 1500’s-it was coded to represent their various doctrines). Walked home via
a new pub The Bridport Arms for a couple. Home to another home cooked lovely
meal - tonight was Greek style-yum.
