Escape from the city -Sunday

Sun 10th Aug

Didn't wake until 10am!! Got on the road and was relieved to find our way out of the city (like spaghetti junction) and headed towards Sintra via the coast road. We were soon in National Park which was very green and followed the coast road. Stopped on the side of the road to watch the waves crash onto the rocks and come up blow holes (the noise made you feel you were standing on top of a whale) and both said how lovely it was to be out of the city. Had a short walk then took off to pass very busy beaches - height of summer and it was a Sunday so every man and his dog were out in their cars! One town we went through (really cross I didn't get photos but I was too stressed out driving with David!) was so narrow and busy with parked cars at one stage for half a km we had about a couple of inches to spare either side!!!! The views were amazing so lush and mountainous but no where to park. Decided to find the Aires for the night and bus into Sintra tomorrow. Loaded up at Lidls again the found our spot for the night in Santa Susana (not even on my map!). It is in a sports complex car park and the bus stop is just up the road. One other motorhome here - I think they were glad to have company. Cooked a meal on the BBQ and watch lots of motorhomes come and go to use the services (empty their shit and fill up with water!) waked into the very small village and watched a gathering of locals enjoying a festival of some sort. The group of men on one table were beckoning us to join them but when we saw the look on the wives faces we thought not. They were all dancing with love music. Back to Priscilla for a cuppa Tea and an early ish night.
