Up and out to catch the 9.15am
bus into Granada. No walking gear today, nice to think we were going to spend
most of the day travelling around on the little train. Had a coffee once in the
city and got on the train at a cost of 8 euros each for all day hop on hop off.
Stayed on to do the whole circuit once which took about an hour. We had
individual audio guides that explained all the locations, but it was a lot to
take in. We did learn that Alhambra means Red Castle. We were going to get off
and go in the gardens as everyone says they are wonderful but the queues were
too long and the day was hot and a bit humid. Went half way around again and
got off at the main Plaza to walk along the river below the Alhambra and
stopped for a couple of beers and tapas. Back on the train and off again up on
a hill that had great views of the Alhambra and Granada. Stayed here awhile to
take it all in and listen to two guys playing guitars and singing. We walked
back down into the city and had a couple of beers at our “regular “ bar before
getting on the 7.30 bus back to the campsite. Decided to eat at the campsite
restaurant which was very good and a great end to another great, but exhausting
day.
We did this Hop on Hop off train tour - 8 Euro each all day! It was very humid and was great to be driven around.
Coffee stop (sorry Jess about the tongue!)
Listening to the audio commentary
Beer stop
I don't know how the train got down some of these roads! Glad we weren't in Priscilla!
Looking across to The Alhambra.
It was still very hot and humid - but still snow on the mountains in the distance!
We walked back down into the town.
Another beer stop!
Arrived back at our campsite - great view from the restaurant
Lovely meal - steak with Roquefort cheese & veggies and David had monk fish with veggies. Showered and bed by 11pm - leaving this site in the morning and heading up to Sierra Nevada.
