Packed up slowly after spending 8 great nights on this sight and exploring the area. Said goodbye to fellow campers (mainly Dutch) and set off on the motorway around Granada and headed up into the Sierra Nevada mountains. It was a great drive - very steep and windy but very scenic. It only took an hour and a half until we arrived in the Ski Resort of Sierra Nevada. We found a car park with the best views and decided this would be our stop for the night. After making lunch we went on a short walk up a peak and sat at the top for over an hour watching the world go by. We saw many cars being test driven as this area is the hottest at this altitude(2500m) so all the makers seem to come here, Audi, VW, Opal and even 2 lovely Aston Martins. We also saw 3 Spaniards ride over the mountains on their horses. When they stopped below us they were very concerned about one horse as it kept laying down - we thought at one point they were going to shoot it! Luckily the next day it seem to come good and off they went again. A ski resort in the summer is great for walking but looking down on the town it had an eerie ghost town feel about it. Made dinner and we got our chairs out and sat all evening watching the ever changing colours looking down over the mountains and Granada below. The sun set was amazing. There was one more motorhome in the car park from France (that also stayed the night) so you can imagine how peaceful it was .
Filling up with water at Beas De Granada campsite before heading off.
