Up and out on the bikes today,
after a chat with a French couple camping opposite us for one night. Turns out
he lived in Oz for a few years, he went first to Melbourne and then to Coober
Pedy!! where he had to learn English pretty quick to survive and earn some
money. They have a severely disabled daughter travelling with them which
certainly makes you count your blessings, they live in Brittany on a small farm
and have given us their address to call in on them .First stop the phone shop
as Jo wasn’t getting a phone signal; just needed to be turned off and back on,
but the guy ripped open the lifetime waterproof case before Jo could stop him!!
He apologised but won’t be waterproof now, Jo not happy!!!!! Cycled along the
front and had a coffee, along the way we were trying to suss out a place to
watch the Socceroos tonight. Cycled for miles through a couple of smaller
villages along the coast and stopped at a beachside restaurant for a wonderful
fish (Dorado / Sea Bass ) lunch for 8 Euros, it was very good and very fresh as
you can watch the boats coming in to the small harbour. And they are showing
the Socceroos here tonight ( 6 O’clock ) so decided to cycle some more before a
little siesta on the beach before returning for the game and a few beers. What
a great game!! They were so unlucky not to at least get a draw, but near enough
is not good enough. The Spanish in the bar were on our side too, but I don’t
know about Monday when we meet Spain. Cycled back to the campsite, it’s amazing
how far you can get on a bike (especially when it’s all flat!!!) Had left at
10.30 am and returned at 9.00 pm great day, as we got back a Spanish couple
that we speak to (as best we can anyway) who were here in March when we first
came to this site, were going to watch the Spanish Chile game so with the help
of his phone translator and Jo’s phone translator they invited us in to watch
the match in their awning. He was a bit anti Spain team (a bit like you Jane,
but at least he still watched them!!!!) as they are a big disappointment this
year. Turns out he is ex- army, retired and lives on this site for 7 months of
the year and the other 5 months back home near Seville when the weather is
cooler. Another bad game and I think the Aussies have a good chance of beating
Spain on Monday even though it means nothing now. Oh well come on England it’s
all down to you now. Will be meeting up with Alan and Hetty tomorrow in Nerja
as they have an appointment there so it we be good to catch up with them.
Coffee stop on our bike ride
I have a new Gel seat - so much better on the crutch!
Was delicious.
Watching Spain & Chile with some Spanish on the site in their awning.
