Finisterre- room with a view

Thurs 4th Sept 2014
Woke up to another very overcast cast, packed up Priscilla, headed north and followed the coast hoping to have a scenic drive - it was - but the fog came down and covered most of it. We didn't travel that far until we came to Finisterre - the most western point of Spain and also the ultimate finish of the Camino de Santiago (walk). We found a spot to park Priscilla very high up on the cliffs(see photo Priscilla is a white dot just below the clouds) and decided to stay for the night. Made lunch then the 3 of us walked to the lighthouse and saw the many mementos that mark the end of the walk. Lots of boots and items have been left here and people also have burnt items at the end of their walk as there were lots of smouldering patches. Also an area where they leave a shell or stone that they have carried with them( one had a small map of Australia on it). Chilled out at Priscilla and got chatting to a lovely German man travelling on this own. Had pasta & veggies for dinner and watched the sunset and took in the calm water and goats. I went to bed while David & Jess watched another episode of Games of Thrones.

Mouros and the beach-Wed

Wed 3rd Sept 2014

Cannot believe how well the three of us slept and until 10.30am! Priscilla looks like a bomb has hit her though - hard to keep her tidy with 3 bodies in her. Got the timetable do the bus into Muros and the receptionist said no it's ok we can give you a lift into town ! How nice was that. Walked around the port and old town which from a distance Jess thought it looked like Norway. It was very overcast so the pictures look a bit dull. Had a disappointing meal - as it was a fishing village we chose the sea bream and the monkfish and Jess of cause had meat(pork). Missed the bus back so got a taxi.
Had a cuppa then walked all along the beach and back. The water was way too cold to swim in! Back to Priscilla and caught up with internet and read our books. Had to then rug up (I even had to put my onesie on!) as it had gone very chilly. We all went inside and played phase 10 and Jess won! She is a little bit red and sun burnt even though it was overcast. David & Jess then watched an episode of Game of Thrones and I got into bed with my book. On the road again in the morning.

The coast again -Tues

Tues 2nd Sept 2014

After a very hot night we woke up a bit chilly. Still cannot believe Jess is with us! Had breakfast outside before packing up Priscilla and headed west for the coast. It was a scenic drive past inlets little fishing villages. So different to the rest of Spain that we've seen. Stopped of at an Eroski supermarket and did a big shop. Arrived at camping A'Vouga between Muros and Louro. Got the last spot available right on the beach. Beautiful views of blue water & skies. Didn't do much for the rest of the day - but did do some of Jess's washing! Had chicken on the BBQ with salad an homemade garlic bread then set up the laptop outside and watched a great movie - The secret life of Walter Mitty whilst overlooking the moonlit beach with its crashing waves. Bed at midnight.

She is with us - Mon

Mon 1st Sept 2014
Had a bit of a sleep in then gave Priscilla a clean inside and a bit of a tidy and made some cupboard space for Jess. David caught up with the internet while I got ready then we walked down to the bus stop to the Airport!!!! Our Jess was flying in on Ryan Air from London-it's been 6 months since we have seen her so just a little bit excited. Arrived in plenty of time and cannot describe how happy we were to see her. Hopped on the bus back into Santiago then walked up the big hill to the campsite! Jess loved that! Was very hot too so had a swim then opened all our gifts and notes from home that had been sent with Jess. Thank you everyone for all the wonderful pressies and money. Sat outside Priscilla chatting while waiting for the sun to get a bit cooler before walking into town.
walked into the old town and just wondered about taking it all in (I got a t-shirt but David said I can't wear it until I have done "The Walk"!) Many buskers were playing again tonight so the atmosphere was great. Had a lovely meal at an Italian restaurant while watching the world go by and catching up with all the news from home. Seemed like a long steep hot walk back to Priscilla before falling into bed - all worn out! It is so lovely to have our Jess with us again.

Fish market & chemist - Sat

Sat 30th Aug 2014
What a night! Horrible! I kept David awake for most of it coughing and trying to blow my nose! All thick and in my head and pain across my sinus! When we did get up we walked into the town of Portonova and found a chemist straight away. Off then to a fish market and spent ages watching and deciding which sort to buy. Settled on our favourite Dorada and some tuna steaks. We wish fish was this price in Australia. We then bought a beach towel with Espana  on it to go with our Portugal one. Had coffee in town then headed back up the hill to Priscilla. That was enough for me so laid outside Priscilla all day in the sun with my book. David did the same. In the evening we had a quick Skype with Jess from London who was getting ready to go to the theatre to see Charlie & The Chocolate Factory! Jealous!  Had the fish on the BBQ with salad for dinner. We then watched another magnificent sunset.
