Flights home booked & a windy walk - Thurs

Thurs 6th Nov 2014
Great sleep in a bed in a house which is the first since we were working at the hotel in Spain!!!! Lovely Sheila has been through a lot (double mastectomy!) and she is very brave and strong. We did have a laugh when she showed me her falsie!!!!Booked out flights home to Australia on 20th Nov!!! Now have to start getting rid of stuff out of Priscilla. Went off down the bay to walk the dogs - it was soooo windy. Watched as they were dredging the harbour. In the evening us and all the family went to The Spyway Inn for a great meal.

Westbay Dorset - Wed

Wed 5th Nov 2014
Cold again when we woke but sun was shinning again. We are going back to Val and Malcolm's when we have said goodbye to everyone else so no tears when we left. We really love them and get on so well. Popped in to Clive's to get my handbag I had left there yesterday then set off for Bridport. On the way we called into another motorhome dealer to get a price but as we are not ready to sell for the next couple of weeks they said they are interested but come back when we are ready to sell. Arrived in Westbay at David and Sheila's. David was at work so we all piled back into Priscilla and drove to Louise's salon in Charmouth. David gave David a much needed haircut. Back at the house Abby( their granddaughter ) arrived and neighbour Tracey. When David came in from work with all rugged up including our thermals and walked down the bay for Guy Fawkes night and enjoyed the warmth of a great bonfire. Slept in the house which felt strange after all these months in Priscilla.!

Back at Val and Malcolm's - Tues

Tues 4th Nov 2014
Freezing cold this morning when we woke - colder than Switzerland!!! Val & Malcolm went off to work and we slowly got up and had the luxury of their house to shower and get some washing done. It was a beautiful sunny day but had some showers. Went off to Dolphin Motors where we purchased Priscilla all those months ago. Got a rough amount as to what they will give us for her and we will decided in the next few weeks. Drove off then to Sainsbury's to get some UK phone credit then onto my relations in New Milton Clive & Janet. It was great seeing them and talking motorhomes (they are the ones who helped us when we purchased Priscilla). Clive thought he had a buyer for her but she was a bit too long for their driveway. Back at Val & Malcolm's we had a lovely meal over a few bottles of red - reminiscing again and lots of chatting about all sorts. Must get up early as I left my handbag at Clive's and they are going out early! Then off to Bridport  Dorset for Guy Fawkes on the beach.

Ferry to the Uk - Mon

Mon 3rd Nov 2014

Not a bad sleep considering the heavy rain and high winds. Still raining when we woke and the ferry didn't leave until 18.30 so stayed in bed and read our books. By the time we got up and ready the rain had stopped . David walked around outside and watched the boats coming and going. We then walked to a big shopping centre and picked up a few bits. Checked in at the terminal and boarded the Barfleur and headed for Poole. Shame it was dark so no views. We had a meal then went outside ! OMG ! It nearly blew my contacts out and we could hardly stand. It got quite rough! Arrived in Poole Harbour at about 10pm then drove to Christchurch Dorset to our dear friends Val & Malcolm. It was hard and a bit strange driving on the other side of the road after 12 months!!!!! Val and Malcolm had waited up for us so we chatted until 12.30am. So great to see them again. Slept in Priscilla on their driveway as easier. Cannot believe we were in Paris yesterday and are now in the south of England!

Heading to Cherbourg - Sun

Sun. 2nd Nov 2014

Today we are now into our 12month of travelling!
Left the campsite in Versailles after 8 nights (148euro =$213) wouldn't have got a hotel for one night there for that! Overcast and a bit rainy but ok as driving all day today. Got a bit lost getting out of Versailles!!! So I panicked again!!! Soon sorted out and headed towards Cherbourg. Roads were very good and hardly any traffic as it was Sunday. Arrived in Cherbourg late afternoon and found the ferry terminal and bought our tickets for tomorrow's crossing at 18.30. It cost 185 Euro 70 more than coming over to L'Harvre. Man at the desk told us a good spot to park up for the night at the end of the quay overlooking the harbour. So we did with about 10 other motorhomes. Had a quick walk into town and had a beer and watched a man getting a tattoo! Then back at Priscilla we had duck and vegetables followed by the movie Midnight in Paris for our last night in France.

A walk around Versailles- Sat

Sat 1st Nov 2014

A sunny day again and decided to go for a walk through beautiful Versailles. We went past markets full of flowers and fresh produce then past lakes and gardens in grounds of stunning homes. Emotional day as our adventure is coming to an end and we both have mixed feelings. Had a few beers in a bar then stopped for our picnic by the lake next to the palace. Heading off towards Cherbourg tomorrow to get a ferry to Poole UK Monday night.
